Learn About Hunger
In Western Massachusetts, one in eight people—at least 200,000 region-wide—struggles to put a meal on the table or has to choose between paying for utilities or buying food. Many more may miss meals every now and then. Some even rely on alternative ways to get food they can’t purchase, like dumpster diving or visiting a meal site. Tens of thousands of families, elders and children in our region daily rely on emergency food assistance, such as community pantries or meal sites. [Source: The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts]
Gus* Modern's annual Keep on Giving event helps raise awareness about the chronic issue of hunger. It’s wonderful that our collective generosity increases during the holidays, but we have to remember that hunger exists in our community all year long. Our local food banks and pantries have to do more with less, and the demand for their services is growing. On top of that, rising food costs and reduced government funding are tapping their resources. These organizations and those they serve need our donations now more than ever.
Please consider donating 3 non-perishable items to our showroom, or proof of online donation to a local food bank/pantry. You'll receive 15% off any Gus* Modern furniture or accessory. The Keep on Giving event ends on January 30, 2015.
